The first round of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between Chile and
Paraguay began on October 6, 2020. The objective is to broaden and deepen the
economic and trade relations that are currently governed by Economic Complementation
Agreement No 35. The second round of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA)
between Chile and Paraguay, which aims to expand and deepen bilateral economic and
trade relations between the two countries, took place virtually, between March 23
and 25, 2021 The third round took place from August 3-5, 2021.
The fourth round of negotiations was held on October 12-14, 2021.
On October 14, 2021, Chile and Paraguay concluded the negotiations for a bilateral
Trade Agreement. This new Agreement is made up of more than 20 Chapters, such as:
Electronic Commerce, Trade in Services, Trade Facilitation, Regulatory Aspects, Global
Value Chains, Entrepreneurs, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Trade and Gender,
Trade and Environment, and Trade and Labor Affairs. Chile and Paraguay signed the Chile-Paraguay
Free Trade Agreement on December 1, 2021.
