On July 4, 2023, began Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between the People's Republic of China and Honduras.
The second round of negotiations took place from September 4 to 7, 2023 in Beijing, China. The working groups focused on topics that covered trade in goods, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, trade remedies, trade in services, financial services, investment, digital economy, competition policy, trade and environment, dispute settlement, and cooperation. The third round of negotiations on the Honduras-China FTA took place on December 11-12, 2023 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Both countries held the 4th round of FTA negotiations on March 19-21, 2024. The fifth round of negotiations was held between May 20 and 22, 2024. The negotiating groups met in person to discuss: market access; trade in services; intellectual property, sanitary and phytosanitary measures; cooperation in standards normalization; and customs procedures and trade facilitation. Virtually, through videoconferences, negotiations were carried out on: investment; rules of origin and the group that examines the legal and institutional provisions of the Treaty. The Sixth Round of Negotiations of the Free Trade Agreement between Honduras and the People's Republic of China took place from July 29 to 31, 2024.
