On 30 June 2008 in San Miguel de Tucuman, Argentina, during its XXXVth ordinary meeting, the MERCOSUR Council decided to approve the Framework Agreement between MERCOSUR and Jordan for a possible FTA. Pursuant to Article Nº2 of this agreement, on 13 October 2008 in Amman, Jordan, both parties held an exploratory meeting to exchange views on the potential FTA and set a future agenda, inter alia.
