Entry into Force
The Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement entered into force on 01 January 1997.
Expansion and Modernisation of the Agreement
On 21 january 2014, the Prime Minister of Canada annouced the launch of negotiations to expand and modernize the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement. The first round of negotiations took place in Israel, from 3 to 9 February 2014. The second and third round of negotiations were held in Ottawa, Canada on 26-29 May and 7-11 December, respectively.
On 21 July 2015, the Government of Canada announced the conclusion of negotiations toward an expanded and modernized Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement (CIFTA).
