MERCOSUR-United Arab Emirates
  Background and Negotiations
   

The first round of negotiations between Mercosur and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) concluded on July 5, 2024. During this round the following topics were addressed: Market Access for Goods, Rules of Origin, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, and Technical Barriers to Trade and Services.

From October 29 to November 10, 2024, the Third Round of Negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Mercosur and the United Arab Emirates was held. The round was attended by more than 50 negotiators in the different technical groups who covered issues related to Market Access for Goods, Rules of Origin, Trade in Services, Technical Barriers to Trade, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures as well as Legal and Institutional Aspects.

The fourth round of negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement concluded on November 7, 2025. This round addressed issues related to market access for goods, rules of origin, trade in services, and legal and institutional aspects.
