Chile and the United Kingdom signed an association agreement on January 30, 2019. The objective
of the agreement is for both parties to continue benefitting from preferential trade arrangements
after the UK leaves the European Union.
As of January 1, 2021, after the United Kingdom left the European Union on December 31, 2020, the Chile-United Kingdom
Association Agreement is operational. On July 8, 2021, Chile and the United Kingdom signed a joint declaration to
deepen their trade relationship within the framework of the Association Agreement, which has been operational
since January 1, 2021.
