Colombia and Turkey met on 15 March 2011 in Ankara, Turkey, to agree on a general framework to develop free trade negotiations.
The first round of negotiations for a free trade agreement was held in Bogota, Colombia, between 30 May and 3 June 2011. The second round took place in Ankara from 11 to 15 July 2011. The third round was held in Bogota, Colombia, from 12 to 16 September 2011. The fourth round of negotiations took place in Ankara, Turkey, from 01 to 04 November 2011. The fifth round of negotiations for a free trade agreement between Colombia was held in Bogota, Colombia from 16-18 February 2012. The sixth round of negotiations took place in Ankara, from 31 May to 02 June 2012.
