On January 3, 2023, it was announced that, after 4 rounds of negotiation and dozens of technical meetings, the teams from China and Ecuador successfully closed, at a technical level, the negotiation process for the Ecuador-China Free Trade Agreement.
This agreement focuses on the reduction of tariffs that allow access to markets and also includes various disciplines such as rules of origin, improvement of customs procedures and trade facilitation, trade defense, protocols for sanitary and phytosanitary measures, reduction of technical barriers to trade. , cooperation for investment, promotion of electronic commerce, competition, transparency, dispute settlement and economic cooperation.
The Ecuador-China Free Trade Agreement was signed virtually and simultaneously on May 10, 2023 in Quito and on May 11, 2023 in Beijing. The Agreement includes a total of 17 disciplines.
