MERCOSUR-India
  Background and Negotiations
   

On September 8, 2021, MERCOSUR and India held a virtual meeting in order to evaluate possible ways to deepen their Preferential Trade Agreement.

After signing a Framework Agreement in 2003, MERCOSUR and India signed a Preferential Trade Agreement in January 2004, and the annexes to it in March 2005. The agreement entered into force on June 1, 2009.

On October 16, 2025, the Vice President of Brazil and the Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, and the Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, welcomed the interest of both India and the MERCOSUR Member States in deepening the Trade Preference Agreement currently in force, with the aim of promoting trade and investment between the Parties.

  Entry into Force
