On 25 May 2013 Mexico and Panama formally announced their decision to start negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement. The first round of negotiations was held from 30 July to 02 August 2013, in Panama City, Panama. The second round took place in Mexico City on 17-20 September. The third round was held on November 12-15, in Panama City. On 13-17 January 2014, the parties held an intersessional round of negotations towards the conclusion of free trade negotiations, in Panama City, Panamá. The fourth round took place in Mexico city, from 4 to 7 February 2014. An intersessional round of negotiations took place in Panama City, from 5 to 7 March. The fifth round of negotiations took place from 18 to 21 March 2014. The negotiations formally concluded on 24 March 2014. The Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and Panama was signed on 3 April 2014, in Panama City, Panama.
