The first round of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between Peru and Hong Kong took place on January 30-February 3, 2023. During this round, thirteen negotiating tables addressed issues related to market access, rules of origin, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, trade in services, electronic commerce, investment, cooperation, trade facilitation, and temporary entry of business people, among others.

On November 15, 2024, the Government of Peru and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region signed a Free Trade Agreement in the city of Lima.
