In January 2011, Ecuador and Guatemala held the first round of
negotiations for a Partial Scope Economic Complementarity Agreement (ECA) within the framework of the Latin
American Integration Association (ALADI). The second round took place in Guatemala on 07-11 March 2011. The
third round of negotiations was held in Guatemala from 11 to 14 April 2011. Ecuador and Guatemala signed the Partial
Scope Economic Complementarity Agreement (ECA) on 15 April 2011. On September 6, 2021, Ecuador and Guatemala concluded
negotiations to include new products that can be marketed free of tariffs.
