The Bahamas Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) Receives Grant to
Provide Assistance to Start-ups
On Feburary 13, 2020, Disney Cruise Line teamed with Eleuthera's Chamber of Commerce and the
Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) to pledge $1m in assistance for the island's business
start-ups.
The funds, which will be distributed over a three-year period, are designed to help small businesses
and entrepreneurs participate in development projects including the cruise line's Lighthouse Point
project.

Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor
Local communities and businesses will find the support they need to grow and create jobs thanks to a
Government of Canada investment of more than $2.1 million dollars. This FedNor funding will enable the
East Algoma Community Futures Development Corporation (EACFDC) to continue to offer a broad range of
business financing and counselling services, as well as support for community economic development
initiatives.

Uruguay Entrepreneur Turns 2
At the beginning of this month, the Uruguay Entrepreneur Portal celebrated its first two years of life;
positioned as a source of information, both for entrepreneurs and for the institutions that are part of
the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Uruguay. In addition to a channel for the effective circulation of
information, it is an instrument in full development towards new challenges, such as the decentralization
of the transmission of knowledge. The portal already has 150,000 users and will soon be implementing its
e-learning platform.

IICA and Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER)
Launches 2020 Visiting Professionals and Internship Program
The main objective is to foster and promote activities related to lifelong higher education, technological
extension services and the improvement of the academic and scientific potential of Ibero-American universities,
via remote, online learning.
The scholarship program will provide 50 partial scholarships in each of the countries of Ibero-America, or
wherever the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture considers it may be useful to undertake
concrete training actions.
